We are proud to already be one of Alaska’s most respected orthopedic practices. Through this opportunity, our physicians will be able to focus even more deeply on patient care while benefitting from AFOC’s shared resources, extensive infrastructure, and additional services. Together, we expect to become even stronger.
AOS will officially join AFOC as of Jan. 1, 2027. On that date, all AOS patients will become AFOC patients.
No. It will be business as usual until that date. Please continue calling the AOS office for appointment requests or questions about your care.
Yes, providers and care teams are expected to remain the same.
No, nothing at all — we’ll handle everything, including transferring your medical records seamlessly to AFOC. No action is needed on your part.
Yes, all scheduled appointments will continue as planned.
No. Existing referrals and surgeries should not be affected.
After Jan. 1, 2027, billing processes will generally remain the same. However, AFOC uses a different patient portal called Athena. You will receive instructions on setting up your new patient portal account prior to the transition. We will communicate additional billing changes in the coming months.

For now, continue visiting the current AOS location. Care is expected to transition to AFOC’s offices at 4100 Lake Otis on Jan. 1, 2027.
