First Appointment
New Patient Information
Thank you for entrusting our team at Alaska Orthopedic Specialists with your medical care! We’ve created these guidelines to help you with the new registration process. Before your first appointment, please take the time to read through this information. If you have any questions at all, do not hesitate to reach out.
Pre-Registration
About three days prior to your first appointment, you can expect to get a link from CheckinAsyst (via text or email) asking you to pre-register. This link will ask you to log in using the patient’s first name, last name, and date of birth. The information you will be providing is required for your appointment, and by completing it ahead of time, you will experience a much shorter wait time when you arrive at our office.
Necessary Items
Please bring the following with you to your first appointment:
- Driver’s License
- Insurance card(s)
- Worker’s Compensation form (if applicable)
- List of current medications and dosages
- Recent x-rays or testing results for your injury/condition
- Payment (cash, check, Visa, or MasterCard accepted)
When you arrive for your appointment, please scan one of the conveniently located QR codes in our lobby with your phone or tablet to complete the check-in process. You can also ask to borrow one of our clinic iPads to check-in. You may also be prompted to pay your co-pay prior to your appointment.
X-Rays
As orthopedic specialists, we require x-rays for most appointments. Please bring any recent x-rays or specialized testing results (related to the problem we will be seeing you for) to your appointment. If we do not have x-rays available at the time of your appointment, if we do not have the needed views, or if the x-rays are too outdated for our use, it may be necessary to obtain new x-rays.
If new x-rays are required, our registered radiology technicians will assist you, using the latest in x-ray equipment. Please be assured that we will only require new x-rays to provide you with the best possible diagnosis and plan for your orthopedic condition or injury.
Appointment Policy
Appointments are normally scheduled in advance. If it is necessary to reschedule or cancel your appointment, please allow 48 hours’ notice. You may contact patient services at 907-771-3500, Option 2.
Prescription Refills
Please plan ahead and submit routine prescription refills at least 48 to 72 hours in advance. When leaving a phone message for our clinical staff requesting a prescription refill, please include your full name, date of birth, contact phone number, as well as the prescription name, dosage, and the name of your pharmacy.
